Sifting through some of my saved writing and I stumbled across this piece.  I was enrolled in a writing class and this piece was my response to the assigned prompt.

I write often about change, but this little gem is probably one of my favorites as it serves up the subject of change in its’ many shapes and forms.   I hope you enjoy it and can relate in some way or another.

Change can come in

like a rug being yanked out

from beneath your firmly planted feet

sending you twisting and tumbling down

a long descent of stairs

When you come to rest

choose carefully

Will you lie there lifeless? Defeated?

Or will you spring to your feet

bounding up each step as if it were your first

marveling at the journey

refreshed by the beauty

of new choices?

Change can happen

so slowly and stealthily

nearly undetectable as it inches in

creeping up on you and swallowing you whole

before you realize nothing is the same

When you discover yourself

in a new landscape or mindset

will you kick and scream?

Will you close your eyes to it all?

The walls you built up seemed so strong

will they now crumble?

Or will you perch high a-top the walls of change

Embrace the vantage point

and fly?

Oh! The Places You Would Go!

Change is inevitable.  It is going to happen over and over again every single day of your life.

You can make yourself crazy resisting change but that would be like riding your brake as you drive down the road.   Life is pushing you forward yet you’re applying the brakes for no reason other than just a lack of trust or faith.

Faith and trust are what protect us from fear.  Without these things… without faith we would be paralyzed by our fears.   Its faith in our legs to hold us up that gives us the confidence to stand.  It’s the faith in knowing we will receive a paycheck that allows us to get up and go to work.   We know these things are going to take place.   We have faith and therefore, they happen.

IF only we could have this same level of faith and trust in all aspects of our life.  As Dr. Suess say’s  “Oh, the Places you will go!”

Looking back on changes in my life . . . major changes . . . those that presented the most fear. Reflecting on those changes or decisions that caused me the most stress, the most fear– those were the changes that affected the most growth. And such an incredible reminder!

What is the last thing you did that truly frightened you? How did you grow from it? And what is holding you back now? What fear has you paralyzed? Maybe it’s time to act upon it and shed that fear and allow yourself to fly. Remember how good it felt last time?

Have faith in yourself.

Time for a change

I recently completed two writing courses that challenged me to dig a little deeper and explore areas and ideas I’d been afraid to attempt before now.  This was very rewarding as I discovered a lot about myself and about my ability or talent, if you will, along the way.   I’ve decided it is high time I get back to posting and maintaining my page.  I’m going to begin by sharing a few pieces I developed during the course.  I hope you enjoy them and if you don’t, I hope you’ll be kind as they were posted to share love, enlightenment and positive energy.
